GIZ WW: GIZ offers customized solutions to complex challenges. We are an experienced service provider and assist the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation. We offer demand-driven, tailor-made and effective services for sustainable development.
GIZ Egypt: On account of Its Strategic location in the Middle East, Egypt is one of the priority partner countries of German international development cooperation. Since 1956, GIZ has been implementing projects in all parts of the country on behalf of the German federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). We also work on behalf of other German public sector clients and international organizations. The GIZ departments responsible for vocational training and networking for managers and experts have a particularly important role to play during the political transition. At present, a total of 220 staff (50 seconded experts and 170 national experts and support staff) are working for GIZ in Egypt.
The wide range of services offered by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH are based on a wealth of regional and technical expertise and on tried and tested management know-how. We are a German federal enterprise and offer workable, sustainable and effective solutions in political, economic and social change processes.
Most of our work is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). However, GIZ also operates on behalf of other German ministries and public and private bodies in Germany and abroad. These include governments of other countries, the European Commission, the United Nations and the World Bank. We are equally committed to helping our clients in the private sector attain their goals.
GIZ operates throughout Germany and in more than 130 countries worldwide. Our registered offices are in Bonn and Eschborn. We have more than 16,000 staff members around the globe, some 70% of whom are employed locally as national personnel. GIZ’s business volume was about EUR 2.1 billion as at 31 December 2012.
